Hello and welcome to W5DXE, Dixie Radio's web
site. My name is Cyrus "Cy" Turner. I was born in Houston Texas on March 3, 1952. I graduated from Waltrip High School in
1971 though I spent my senior year at Lamar due to zone restructuring. I got interested in radio and electronics at the age
of 7 when I built my first crystal set for a Cub Scout project. As I got older I continued to get more interested in
radio. I built several Heathkit SWL sets as well as other projects in my teens including my first guitar amp. My station
consist of the following equipment:
Kenwood TS-870 and TS-2000, Heil Goldline
Pro, Electrovoice RE-20, Diamond GSZ4000 P/S, Heathkit HM-2140, Wavenode WN-1, Heathkit SB-220, Ameritron AL-1500, MFJ-984
Versa Tuner IV ( same as Dentron's MT3000A), Ameritron ATR-30 antenna tuner out to a fullwave 160m loop (540') at
60'. The TS-2000 is used for VHF and UHF. I use a Cushcraft A148-20T Yagi For VHF and a Diamond Discone for UHF.
I have recently gotten bit by the audio bug and
have added a few audio rack pieces to my station. Furman RR-15 Plus, DBX286A, Bellari RP533, Behringer DSP1124P,
EX3200, MDX2600, and a DSP2024P . The monitor speakers are Bose 301 Series II's
